All poems on this site are written by Edith Shyly and are protected by copyright. Please don't reproduce them in full, or use them commercially, without written permission. You're warmly invited to share short snippets on social media — as long as you credit "Edith Shyly" and link back to edithshyly.com.

What you can do

  • Quote a few lines (up to about a quarter of a poem) on social media, in a blog, or in a personal message — please credit Edith Shyly and link back to the poem on this site.
  • Use the share buttons beneath each poem — they auto-credit and link back for you.
  • Read a poem aloud at a private gathering, classroom, or community event.
  • Print a single copy for your own enjoyment.

What you can't do without written permission

  • Reproduce a poem in full on another website, blog, app, newsletter, social-media post, or printed publication.
  • Use any poem (in whole or in part) for commercial purposes — including merchandise, advertising, paid newsletters, monetised videos, or AI training datasets.
  • Translate, adapt, set to music, or perform a poem publicly for profit.
  • Remove or alter the author credit.

If you'd like to do any of the above, please get in touch — most reasonable requests are granted, and it's almost always quicker than you'd expect.

Right to be identified as the author

The right of Edith Shyly to be identified as the author of this work has been asserted in accordance with the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988.

Your email & privacy

When you sign up to the Members’ Area, we store the email address you give us and the date you signed up. We use your email for two things only: to send you a one-time link to sign in, and to correspond with you about edithshyly.com.

We will never pass your email address, or any other details, on to any third party.

You can ask us to delete your email at any time — just send a quick note via the contact form and it will be removed.
